Ashwagandha Tea: Benefits, How to Make It, and What to Know

  • Author: Hannah Bell
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cup 1x

Description

A simple ashwagandha tea made with hot water and optional milk, spices, and honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 to 1½ tsp ashwagandha root powder (or 1 tea bag, or a few pieces of dried root)
  • 1 cup water
  • Milk of choice, optional
  • Cinnamon or cardamom, optional
  • Honey, optional

Instructions

  1. Heat water to just below boiling, around 200°F. Boiling water can make the flavor more bitter.
  2. Add the ashwagandha powder, tea bag, or root pieces to a mug or teapot.
  3. Pour the hot water over and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, adjusting to taste — shorter for a milder flavor.
  4. Strain if using loose powder or root pieces.
  5. Stir in milk, cinnamon, cardamom, or honey if desired.
  6. Drink in the evening as part of a wind-down routine, since ashwagandha can cause drowsiness.

Notes

Not recommended during pregnancy or if managing a thyroid condition — see the disclaimer above.
